1999 Mazda B2500 with 213,000 miles. Manual transmission. New clutch and all associated parts about 2 years ago. The truck was recently stolen and recovered. The thieves had it almost a month and put about 1,000 miles on it. It is back on the road now, but I'm having some difficulty getting it into first gear from a complete stop. I have to try different gears, and when I find one that will go (usually 3rd or 4th) then I'm able to get it into first. Once I start driving i have no problem shifting through the gears both up and down. I never had any problems with the transmission before it was stolen. What is the likely issue?

Sounds like damaged synchros or clutch is dragging slightly.
