Hi Scotty
As I know Cx-9'sengine can be fueled with 87 regular unleaded fuel or 93 premium fuel. And depending on which fuel you choose, the engine produces different levels of horsepower and torque. However, if I want to keep this car for the long term, which fuel is better? Should I keep using one fuel and do not switch very frequently? Or I can use regular fuel for commuting and use premium fuel and rev up the engine to clean the engine once a month or week? Could you explain the mechanical theory behind this engine? I am very interested. What makes this engine so flexible. And do you think it is a good idea to purchase this for the long term?
Your car has incredibly precise sensors measuring the engine crankshaft rotation. The computer knows exactly when each cylinder fires, for how long, and how hard. Using this data, it adjusts the ignition timing. It can do this with microsecond precision, because engines can spin very fast. The computer performs this calculation many times per second.
So you can change fuels as much as you like. The computer will adapt in the blink of an eye.
You can do whatever you want if you are a normal driver you can use regular fuel all the time but if you do like performance I would stick with a high test because it will perform better and last longer if you are a hard driver using the premium fuel
Thank you! It is really useful information.
