Mechanic said he has to replace my entire fuze box because my car won’t start and the box is extremely corroded.
I have a Cadillac DTS (2009) with about 115,000 miles on it. I went to my usual mechanic for control arm replacement. They have finished that but then said my car all of a sudden won’t start. I don’t understand this as it was working fine when I had it. Also couldn’t they just replace the blown fuses instead of the entire box itself? I would love for someone to explain why this is occurring. They didn’t give me the exact codes but they said this is also why my check engine light is always on for an evap code.

Replacing one fuse doesn't fix fuse box corrosion which affects the whole box. Corrosion causes short circuits
I would love for someone to explain why this is occurring.
moisture must have gotten inside. Maybe the lid wasn't on.
Thanks man appreciate it. So this is pretty normal? The mechanic said he was almost 100% positive that this is why the car won’t start.
Nope, I wouldn't say that. There isn't normally moisture in there.
Like I said, either the lid was off, or the vehicle was flooded or something.
Hopefully this mechanic knows what he's doing and spent some time to diagnose the issue.
Okay, I live in Buffalo and we get a lot of snow, so the moisture makes sense to me. I hope so too man, I will find out tomorrow.
