I was looking to buy this car as a project. Current owner is asking $2000. It has difficulty on cold starts and needs starter fluid but once running the car runs normal. How hard are parts to find for this car and should I find something better for a project. I just liked it since its a coupe and rare to see now days.

I would appricate suggestions to website who do supply parts.

What does @mod_man reckon?

Why bother?  The car is only worth about $11,000.  You would spend more than that on a decent paint job, let alone everything else.

There's plenty of places that can do a decent paint job for way less than that.

Not that I would ever deal with.

Parts aren't THAT hard to find. Rockauto.com carries a lot of  parts for them.

Just know that it is a German car from the '70's and while they were built better than now, when something does go wrong with them it can be a pain to repair.

They are not desirable from a collector's standpoint, so parts aren't as expensive as some other models. If you like it, go ahead. Just realize that you won't get back what you put into it if you sell it down the road.

I plan to keep it as a toy and not looking to sell in the future asap. Other car I am looking is a LS400 from 1990 to 1996. However most have high mileage with either the transmission acting up, interior in very bad condition or just modified way too much.
