Hello Scotty, I'm an old guy like you, and I'm  thinking about looking around for a vintage car, maybe an early 1960's Chevrolet that is in original or restored condition. I'm curious, if you were looking, which vintage American car would you purchase? Thank you, Johnny

Mustangs are a good, cheaper option for a classic. You can get a nice late '60's 289 car for a very reasonable amount.

If you are asking what car would I most like to have, that's easy: 1967 Shelby GT500.

I have come close a couple of times, but I want a genuine one and not a recreation. Sooner or later, its gonna happen.

It definitely will.

My pick would be a 1966 Mustang Coupe with a 289 and auto trans.  Not the fastest but arguably one of the best designed and engineered cars ever made.

You didn’t state the budget, but I would get a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette with the split rear window (only year ever offered).

Did you just win the Lottery?

An excellent choice IF you put budget aside, as you said. 😉

If you're talking early 60's Chevy, the 61 Impala with the bubble top is a good looking car IMHO. Probably quite rare these days and BIG BUCK$.

1964 Chevrolet Chevelle 2 door station wagon.  A '64 Nomad if you will.  Very scarce, I've only seen one in person.  Something you can use, not just bring out for a small town parade.
