In newer Mercedes, in there eco mode why do they turn off the engine isn't that bit stupid don't ya think?
First it is killing the engine by going on and off
Burning more engine oil and also wasting gas
Correct me if I am wrong please thank you

You're not wrong. None of the stop/start systems are good ideas and all of them add extra strain on the car. It is, as you said, a stupid idea.

They say :”it saves gas” which I always laugh at this claim. If you even save gas, it will be a tiny tiny bit and when you compare it to the al damages and extra wear and tear on the engine, you will realize that they don’t even care about long term reliability and function of the cars.
