Pontiac G6 Cars dials won’t move

Firstly, I must say that this is not a consistent thing that happens. I have a 2008 Pontiac G6 Gt Coupe that has 160000 miles on it and when I turn on the car sometimes the gauges won’t move and all warning lights are on. You can’t see the gas, rpms, or even the something essential as the temperature and mph the blinkers don’t register that you have them on in the car if you switch them but all the lights outside work. Also, sometimes the car won’t start it’s just a click but given time it will come back on and I’m able to drive again.

You may have some issues with either the ignition switch or the gauge cluster. When the does not start, does the security light blink? have you tried wiggling the switch?

The security light comes on but it doesn’t blink and I’m still able to drive when the dials on the gauges don’t move

If you have a spare key, use it and check if you still have issues. If you still have, the change the ignition switch.

That last sentence is interesting. " Also, sometimes the car won’t start it’s just a click....."

Maybe clean your battery posts and cable clamps with a battery brush and then make sure they're connected tightly.

....nothing wrong with "starting with the basics"

They got cleaned recently and they still the car still did it.
