I am looking to buy a used car. I am looking at at a 2006 Mercury Milan FWD 3.0l with 57000 miles or a 2010 Toyota Corolla 1.8l with 114,000 miles. I like both cars. What are your thoughts?
If you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time and put as much mileage as possible, you have a better chance of accomplishing that with the 2010 Toyota Corolla. The Mercury Milan is essentially a 1st generation Ford Fusion and they were OK vehicles, but if it were my money I would get the Corolla.
I agree with the choice of the Corolla. However, it also depends on how well you maintain your vehicle. My brother had an 09 Milan with the 2.3l which he traded in last fall with nearly 300 K on the original engine and tranny.
The Corolla definitely will outlast the Mercury. I'd go that route.
I would get the Corolla if it passes mechanical inspection.
