Hi Scotty
My 2004 Miata has been stored for the winter and spring. It is a 6 speed manual. When I started it it fired up and ran for about 30 seconds then quit and just cranked from then on but wouldn't start. I put the fixD on (which I got through your advice) and it showed no codes.
I have no idea how to go about fixing it.
@mac
check fuel pressure
Check for fuel and spark. Fuel first, and how much fuel was in it when stored? Might be water in the tank from condensate. Pull filter and drain a good bit of gas into jar for a look (cycling key, fuel pump should pump some out and since you have it disconnected halfway, might as well replace it as periodic maintenance ; ). Next fuel pressure at rail and spark at plug.
See Scotty video on car that cranks but doesn’t start
Since it Doesn't show any errors and it cranks, the battery is probably OK.
For an engine to run, it needs 4 basic things.
Compression, Air, Fuel and Spark.
Watch the video.
Check if you got compression, check if you got air, check if you have fuel and check the spark plugs.
Start from there and lets see how it goes.
