Hey scotty, I have a 2003 toyota celica gt, automatic, 208k miles. I have a single loud popping noise on the driver side front when I make a sharp right turn, I can feel it pop underneath the floorboard. What could it be? The cv axle boots are undamaged and not leaking grease.
Check ball joint and tie rods, check for play 3-9 and 12-6
@nick20s
I replaced my outer tie rods last year and my inner tie rods have no play, ball joints seem to be okay. Neither 3 and 9 or 12 and 6 make any noise.
Okay
Can you reproduce the sound with the vehicle parked and someone bouncing the driver's side corner?
If so, then tighten down suspension fasteners, and check for wear in bushings and stabilizer bars links etc.
If it only happens while driving then it could be a worn CV joint. (despite the boot looking fine)
@mountainmanjoe
Bouncing the vehicle parked doesn't reproduce the sound. I replaced sway bar links last year so they should still be good. My bushings are also fine.
@mountainmanjoe
My cv joint has no movement either up or down nor side to side
In that case, I've seen coil springs crack and break too. Give them a good tug.
