How many miles should my first car should be?

That depends. Ideally, mileage is not the only thing you go by, obviously things like the condition of the engine, transmission and rust, etc are the primary decisive factors.

A pre-purchase inspection is mandatory when buying any used car.

As few as possible, preferably highway miles.

More than anything it’s important to get the right Make, Model, and Model Year as well as make sure it has an impeccable service history especially engine oil changes and transmission fluid changes.  As an example I would not take a low mileage Hyundai or Kia product or 2012-2014 Toyota Camry.

That question is rather vague, what do you need the car for? How much money are you wanting to spend, and what type of car is needed?
