I am considering buying a 2012 Mini Cooper S Hatchback. Is that a reliable buy? More reliable than most Minis'?

You’re looking at a 10 year old BMW that was probably used and maintained as if it’s regular car.
Avoid it.

I personally like the design of the Mini Cooper, so if I really wanted one, I would get one, KNOWING, it’s going to cost me an arm and a leg to maintain and repair.
If you are looking for reliable, pass.
