Hello Scotty, Im really a fan of yours. I admire your knowledge on cars. I hope you can help me with my car.
My car got into a minor front end collision accident. I bump into a tree while parking. Airbags didn't trigger and tree damaged the bumper as well as the hood. When I checked the inside no visible damage was seen. But the shutter was damaged, radiator and condenser below was bent. Energy absorber, impact bar and lower baffle was bent as well. When I tried to start the engine again, the idle of the engine sounds funny and rpm gauge shows up and down and not on a steady position before the damage. Check engine sign was also present after the accident. I was parking the car when I step on the accelerator instead of the brake and hit the tree but was short distance so the impact was not strong but really pushed the car on the tree.
My car is a Chevy Equinox 2019 LT. The insurance covered the repair and the body shop estimated the cost around $8000.
What sort of damages does my car has and is the price of repair reliable? Will have problems with the car in the future since some damage will not be prevalent immediately?
It is not that bad, I would not worry about it. What's the code for the check engine light?
