Modern Camrys are ugly so what's the best built alternative?

Wife wants to trade in the minivan soon for something reliable and economical (Camry). The only problem is we agree those fronts are ugly as sin! So what would be the next closest thing in the 0-2year old market? I was thinking maybe Honda, Nissan or possibly Subaru?

Stay away from Nissan and the crappy Jatco CVTs they put in their cars.

I would suggest the Accord; the 2023 model year is coming with a new body style and interior and from the prototypes it seems like a nice car. And the good thing is Honda makes good cars too so you wouldn't be sacrificing quality and reliability. My second choice (while it's not a sedan) would be the Rav4; it seats 5 people like the Camry but I think it's much nicer.

Yes, the Camry has gone from grandpa car to teenage rice rocket.

But it's still better to take ugly over broken down on the side of the road.

Who are you trying to impress anyway ... you're married.

I miss the “boring” looking Camry. I don’t even recognize it.

If you want a “Camry”, a Toyota Avalon or Lexus ES might be a good alternative. They are basically a Camry underneath. Granted they are a little more expensive, but way better looking imho.

Otherwise, an Accord would be my next choice.

I must be the only one on this forum who likes the new Camry because it doesn't look like just another anonymous, plain jane vehicle that could be made by anybody. Haha. I've never been into Toyotas because they've always looked like the car equivalent of a vanilla ice cream cone. They were always too plain for my taste. When Scotty reviewed that Camry TRD Sport a few years ago in Houston, I thought it looked great, Toyota was stepping up their industrial design team. It actually made me want to buy one, but I have enough cars around already.

With the competition going the same way, they had to follow, somewhat. The 2013-2020 Ford Fusions looked like Aston Martins, and the last generation Chrysler 200 looked like something Audi would make. The Malibu from Chevrolet looked aggressive for a sedan as well.

The Honda Accord is probably your next best bet. The Sport is pretty zippy, it has a more conservative style, and it looks good.
