want to know on what to expect

Probably, at some point down the line, the iconic early 2000s Ford knocking sound.

Looking online on the 2.0 Diesel the knocking is caused by the road bushing getting destroyed.

Overall, other than that, probably just random issues as it's a 16 year old European market car.

The Diesel Mondeo used to be reasonably good cars before Ford decided to equip 2010s models with PowerShift.

In the US, there was no Mondeo, the only Car sold in the US based on the CD132 platform was the Jaguar X-Type.

And neither was the later gen, they were based on the EUCD platform, the only cars using it in the US were Volvos.

The first (and last) Mondeo to be similar to a US market market car was the MK V ( basically is a Ford Fusion)

US market big(er) Ford sedans of that time were based on Mazdas (Ford CD3 - Ford Fusion / Mazda 6), not Jag/Volvo.
