steering column blues

Hey Scotty,  Absolutely love your videos and your honesty with all things automotive!  I have a 1991 GMC K1500 5.7 liter automatic tilt wheel steering column.  Every time I get into this column (3rd time) I have a heck of a time putting that silly little snap ring in after the backing plate pushing with all I can to compress that spring behind it.  Any suggestions? Thanks,  Jim

make sure you use quality snap ring pliers. The cheap ones are a pain.

Can you use a clamp or something to hold the compressed spring while you put the ring in?

Unfortunately no room for snap ring pliers or a clamp as it all slides in sequence on to the steering shaft. When my part comes in, I am gonna try to us a small length of tube and hammer it down. But thanks for the response.
