Hi Scotty,

I have a 1993 Infiniti J30 sedan (ONLY 72,000 MILES).  Nissan VG 3.0 engine with a clutch fan. 3 belts (ac, power steering, and alternator), and the fan is belt-driven.  I get a sequel for about 10-20 seconds on startup.  I had new belts(FROM INFINITI DEALER) installed 10,000 miles ago, and had the tension of the belts adjusted once since installation because there was a sequel, and now there is a squeal again. The engine doesn't have any auto tensioners for the accessory belts on this car.

1) Is there any easy way for me to tell if it is the belts squealing, or if the fan clutch is causing the squeal?

2) With 72,000 miles on a 1993 car, would you change the fan clutch for preventative maintenance?

Easy enough just tighten the belts up a little if you want to see which one is squealing when it's squealing spray carburetor cleaner and the ones that stop squealing when you spray it on that's the one that's loose

Thank you Scotty! I will try that.
