JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE II (WJ, WG) 2.7 CRD 4x4 (163 hp)

My 2004 Jeep just shut down the engine whilst I was driving and when I tried to restart it , it could just rave for less than 4 seconds and then shut down again.Before this happed, the Check Gauge light was coming on everytime I ddnt press the accelerator whilst driving. And the oil pressure gauge was going down to zero when I wasn’t pressing the accelerator pedal.
I hv checked my Engine oil it’s enough and the car isn’t producing any rattling sound . Any help ?

When you try to crank it, does it try to turn over now? Could be an alternator issue. All kinds of odd electrical things can happen when the alternator starts to go.

@mod_man
Yes but then it shuts off

  If it just shut off while driving are you sure its not a high Temp situation?  That will shut a car off.  If you got gas...and oil,,,and cant see anything wrong, its probably the ignition system. You might check your Timing control sensor. I went through a deep puddle once and it ruined mine (1997).  Its just a magnet on the bell housing.

Thank you for your answe but What exactly will be wrong with the ignition system as you claim . I am also going to check on the Timing control sensor . And may u advice as to why the Check Gauge Light was showing and the Oil pressure Gauge was running down to zero everytime I let go of the accelerator pedal ?

Well the Check Light was because you were losing Oil Pressure I assume. You sure you got Oil? You are losing pressure on the idle.  I would honestly check out Scotty's reccomendations on Diagnostic Tools and hook one up.  If its Ignition and/or a sensor a decent tool will tell you and reccomend a fix.  I use the Acutron
