my 2005 buick park ave 3800 non supercharged , transmission shifts normal after a restart

Maybe change your trans fluid and filter. If you're nervous about a fluid change because you're not sure if it's ever been changed before you can pour it through a coarse strainer, run a magnet through it, and put it back in.
But at least change the filter
