Hi Scotty so back in Feb of this year I bought a new 2021 Toyota Corolla SE , Automatic with currently 6400 miles on it ( had 7 when I bought it ) when I initially would fill up my tank would say 375 miles till empty ..well now that number keeps going down ..went from 375 to empty to my last fill up saying 250 miles till empty??????I could understand a few miles but same amount of gas and now its using more gas >> my driving habits are the same and I asked the dealer told me " Oh the gas tank is getting used to your driving habits " really ???? This is baffling me and I dont know how concerned I should be ...Please help me with your wisdom !! Thank You

Dealer is right. The car’s computer learns your driving habits and your true real world MPG and bases the miles til empty on that. If you normally had been driving a lot of highway miles it wouldn’t have gone down that far. If you drive many city miles I can see it changing that much. Truth is the MPG listed on the sticker isn’t real world. It’s best case in a lab scenario. From factory the computer starts out with that unrealistic number, as you drive it learns and starts reducing your average MPG from what you really get.

Yep mpg rating are unreliable,
one of my cars says it should do 37.2, but actually I get around ~23 irl.
On the other hand my daily says it should get 44 and I actually manage to get ~38.5 out of it on the Highway with the AC…

The mpg listed for the vehicle is a fantasy cooked by the marketing department based on nothing but theoretical measurements, the same thing as Climate Change.

That’s normal. I used to drive highway only and my car said 600 miles till empty. When I switched to city driving only, it went down to 346 lol.
