What steps can I take to get my a/c working again .. it's not over heating .. fans on radiator arnt working.. there's a wire unplugged and don't know where it goes. 0lease hel---p
Year, Make, Model, Mileage?
Well that’s a lot to digest. First thing you gotta do is see where that wire plugs in at and go from there. Should be a plug at each fan, one on the compressor right near where the belt is on it. Then follow the two lines that hookup to the compressor, within 6-12” theres a plug on one of those lines. Look for those first and report back.
Is your compressor clutch engaging at all? Your refrigerant may have leaked out. You need to hook up a manifold gauge set to do a proper diagnosis. Static pressure needs to be over 20 psi on most AC systems for the compressor to engage, and if it does you can check high and low system pressures to do an initial diagnosis.
It could also be a problem with the electronics that operate the AC system, or the blend door that controls outlet temperature.
If your're really not familiar with working on air conditioning your best bet is to take your car to a reputable local AC technician (NOT a chain like Pep Boys, Midas, or Firestone) for diagnosis. You can easily ruin your AC system by doing the wrong thing. (Probably the top thing that people do wrong is to use those so-called "recharge" cans that contain sealer and claim you can "fill" your system "to the green" using the useless cheap low-side gauge they provide. Avoid those like the plague.)
