Hey all, My aunt finally had it and got rid of her 2006 Honda Odyssey which I know Scotty says run away from them. She had problems with the Ac unit, nothing would come out in some of the vents and wouldn’t get cold, but in the winter the heat would blow cold and not hot. It also didn’t drive good up hills by her in the winter. anyway she now leased a 2021 Chevy Equinox which she says it’s a much better vehicle than her van but it’s only brand new. Scotty also says stay away from Chevy, but I do see a lot of Equinox’s on the road and a lot of people at work have them so does one of my in laws. I see more of them even more than the RAV4’s Just wonder if that’s a good particular car or do people get them because they’re cheaper?
Well the silver lining is that she leased the Equinox. Recommend to her that she returns it & doesn't buy it, post the lease period.
Enjoy it while it’s still new & everything works..
She made a good choice for leasing. Buying Chevy Equinox new for long term is not good because their quality is going down for a decade now.
I hope they got rid of those oil consumption issues
I guess it depends on where you live, too. Where I am at, I see more RAV4’s than Equinox although I still see a fair amount of those Chevy’s. Folks have their reasons for getting the Equinox but price, features, space, ride all factor in. They could also be a GM loyalist and that’s all they get - who knows. In any event, it’s a good thing she is leasing and hopefully she turns it in when the lease is up. For longevity, that is not a good vehicle to own.
She does plan to lease another vehicle again in 3 years because she's older and she doesn't want to worry anymore about breaking down on the side of the highway especially when she's driving with her elderly father, but isn't that why everyone should have a Toyota? That's Why I got the Rav4.
@seeitknowit71 It would make sense because you probably don't know exactly when she is not able to drive also.
The Equinox is even worse than the Odyssey!
My Chevy loyalist friends just bought a new Equinox for the wife and the daughter got one. It will be interesting to see how they hold up. The husband recently had to replace the transmission in his not too old Silverado. Still stuck on Chevy.
I used to love Chevy, growing up My parents had an 87 Celebrity bought brand new only $10,000. 10 years it never broke down.I also had an Silverado 2500 with the 5.7 which had been in the family 22 years unfortunately it had to be scrapped because it was badly rusted parts started falling off and the cab rotted all the way through. That truck was the best vehicle I had and of course My RAV4 comes in 2nd. I would doubt the Equinox will not last as long as the old Chevys did
