Have you already scanned for codes?

Can you still return it? If yes, ask for a full refund ASAP.

An old BMW is almost always going to turn into an endless money pit & unless you have the patience or cash to fix it, I recommend you get rid of it.

I cant refund it im a 17 year old that just got my first car it was running fine before i just dont know what to do with it so much stress n stuff

Scan the car for codes & pray it’s just a simple fix - https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/misfire-4/

As a first ever car, I’m sorry but you made a terrible choice by picking up an 18yr old BMW..

It had 120000ks on it and it had no issues on it and i had someone come look at it and it was fine i will take it to a mechanic next week and hope its nothing bad

Can you make a YouTube video of the symptoms & post the link here?

Yea sure thing ill do that straight after work today

Start by scanning for codes since the CEL is on -

What is a cel ? And also i will go mechanic next week to get it checked out but idk if this is true or not but i have been running regular gas in my car not premium would that cause any problems ?

CEL = Check engine light. Check out the link I provided. Also, if you don’t already own an OBD2 scan tool, now I probably a good time to invest in one.

Also, I didn’t realise that you’re in the UK. 120,000 kms is too low for even a BMW to have major engine problems (unless the previous owners thrashed the car), so pray it’s just a simple misfire which can be fixed with a tuneup. Start with scanning for codes before you (or the mechanic) replaces any part.

Good thing is my mum has a mate that is a trusted mechanic i will get my car towed there next week and i hope its a easy fix because the previous owner had takes great care of the car and it drove mint when i got it but then it had a missfire so it got me sorta worried because it was such a fun and nice car to drive

Great, keep us posted with the diagnosis & fix. Since you’re in the UK, parts & labour shouldn’t be as exorbitant as in other parts of the world.

I would also like to ask one more question am i meant to be using regular petrol or premium petrol for my car ?

Check the owners manual. If it says premium fuel required, you should use premium. Otherwise, regular gas is sufficient.

That should be mentioned in your owner’s manual. If you don’t have it, your local BMW dealer should be able to tell you the recommended fuel type, by quoting your VIN.

Alright thanks so much for the help i will update you next week appreciate it man

No worries, mate.
