my car is surging at 2k rpm on idle. when put on reverse the rpm drops very low at .5 rpm and stalls when given gas(pressing down the gas pedal) same for D. the temperature gauge reads exactly at the middle . my engine feels very hot on idle i measured 300 farenheit with scanner. does not vibrate does not shake, and if i give it gas on reverse or D the car stalls immediately and i get the red pressure symbol. also just recently i can hear some kind of high pressure air leak coming from my engine when i turn off the car, it last about 4 seconds EVERY SINGLE TIME i turn if off. please help me
can a clogged fuel pump filter create this problems? iam still going to go ahead and install a new fuel pump but can someone atleast verify this issue? just need a good advice thanks
this my 2008 honda civic hybrid 190,000 miles. maintenance has been done, tune up, my valve lash is coming up in the next 10,000 miles 🙂
Have someone else turn it off while you have head under hood listening around exhaust manifold down toward cat. Is the air coming from the exhaust manifold? If so, your cat is stopped up.
@hillbilly
i removed upstream oxygen sensor today, it was covered with hard black carbon deposit. i cleaned them both installed them back with antiseize, problem still persist. @hillbilly my mechanic got sick of covid19 and can not repair my vehicle, unfortunately mechanic shops would charge me alot, but i havent had much luck finding a trustworthy mobil mechanic. iam considering renting an obd scanner, but i did get a catalyc converter code before all this happened. i did check with autozone 3 times, catalyc converter always showed up in the obd scanner. besides this, do you know why after removing my map sensor and putting it back is making my D green light blink repeatedly ? waiting for your response.......
Replace cat before more engine damage. The D flashing is trans issue. Poor running engine due to cat bad might have caused it. Don't like coincidence but can't see where map would have anything to do with it. Replace cat and clear codes and I suspect you'll be good. How much oil you using/burning?
@hillbilly
correct. and iam not burning any oil, my oil stays exatcly at the same level, i did not had to add any engine oil or transmission fluid even after 1,100 miles of driving, freeway miles. car ran perfect. and even did extra oil and fluid change as a bonus and new filter just to make sure. this all showed up early in the morning i check my exhaust tip and no black carbon deposit there. ive been using the premium gasoline but my manual reccomends regular gas.
iam using exatcly what the user manual reccomends 3.4quarts
@hillbilly
can the bad cat destroy my transmission, i reversed the first few times and i could hear perhaps the transmission making some funny noise. it only happened once, after that i could move out the driveway but when given gas the tranny would stall, but the gas pedal would still work properly as the it went just above 2-3k rpm you could hear good acceleration like normal, the car has been garaged kept since the issue started 4 weeks ago. the bolts for the cat are super tight, i did try the other day to remove it but that will need an impact wrench 50-200$
