Hello Scotty, I have a honda accord 2009 model. I just had my automatic transmission changed at the recommendation of my mechanic. After the replacement, the mechanic started the engine to check the atf level, the car started normally for about 2-3minutes, then jerked and off. He tried to start the engine therefore but to no avail. We then notice on the dashboard when this ignition is turned, the battery, the key light and transmission light doesnt come on. I called an electrician but he says everything seems fine after checking and testing the fuses. However, the OBDII scanned couldn't even detect the car. Please what could be the reason, myself, the mechanic are out of option. sending this message from Nigeria. Thanks a million

The ECU/TCU might have to be reprogrammed to the new transmission. That's just a guess. It's possible something's disconnected or in wrong spot.

Thanks alot Nissanrob88. we are rechecking all the spots to see if any is wrongly connected or disconnected

Also its not uncommon for a wire to get damaged/pinched when doing a job like this.

It happens. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and over look things. For instance 12 years ago I did a timing belt, water pump, battery, alternator, starter, plugs, wires, distributor rotor and cap, oil change, trans fluid, coolant, breaks, rotos, drums and valve lash adjustment on a Honda. The women got the car for free and wanted to give it to her daughter for school. It was in superb condition but wanted this job done so it will last along time and not have to worry. I did all the work, was ready to test drive and it didn't start. I looked over everything and couldn't figure out what's wrong. I spent 8 hours checking everything only to find out the distributor wasn't hooked up. I couldn't believe I made such a stupid mistake. At least I figured it out before she picked up the car .
