My Dad wants to buy a new car

Hello Scotty,

My dad has a 2016 Toyota Tundra Limited with about 60k miles, a six-inch lift, and an automatic transmission. He keeps his trucks for about 5 years or 60k miles. He is thinking of getting a new Ford Raptor. Kelly blue book and many other sources that I've seen give it between a 4.2-4.8 reliability rating, but you are the master. SHould he buy it and keep it for 5 years or not? Thanks!

For 5 years and 60k miles he can buy whatever he wants. Car is under warranty.

I mean that Tundra looks new and has very low miles Scotty himself says those can last 4 500k miles so selling it at 60k would not be the best value. Plus, I would wait 1 or 2 more years because the Tundra will last but if you want to get a Raptor go ahead just know that some Fords start to have problems at 60 70k miles and others at 150k miles I dont have experience with the Raptor. But if you buy a new truck every 5 years than any truck could be good so just get the one you like.

If he just sells his vehicles and gets new ones after 5 years and only 60k miles, then screw it, he can get whatever he wants. Even unreliable trucks like Rams will go 75-80k miles before they need expensive repairs. But to be honest, trading in these trucks every 5 years seems like a waste of money considering how expensive they are, especially brand new.

I see what you're saying.
