I have a 86 cadi brougham. 5.0l 307 olds. Well it’s been doing great. No problems then transmission fluid when everywhere. Rear housing seal went out cause the drive shaft is too short now… will the drive shaft shrink or compress. It looks like a sleeve over it it’s solid shaft underneath right? Idk but I either have to weld an extension onto the driveshaft or could my axle or motor have shifted and made the gap? I always liked your videos taught me a lot. Thank you and god bless
cause the drive shaft is too short now
what made you come to this conclusion? How short?
will the drive shaft shrink or compress.
No.
could my axle or motor have shifted and made the gap?
Yes
Something failed or shifted

I don't know what you're looking at.
Does your car have a torque tube?

It's steel, unless you somehow manage to get the driveshaft up to 2000⁰F, it's not going to shrink. Those are either D-bodies or C-bodies. They have similar transmissions to my Pontiac Catalina, which is a 1979. It's a TH-200-4R, which is a 4-speed, my Pontiac only has 3 speeds. I'm pretty sure they don't have torque tubes. That's an almost 40 year old vehicle, have you checked for rust?
