As long as it passes a mechanical inspection, I think it would be a great choice.

Yes they are great cars. This is probably the best A to B first car out there. This is a good generation of the Corolla, modern safe nice and not as boring as before. But they are still reliable and very efficient (up to 40mph+). Haggle a bit and buy it if your mechanic says its in good shape. If not, walk away. There are plenty of Corollas out there.

Want to add, ask the owner for service records. If you can get your hands on them + the mechanical inspection results will be crucial to its long term reliability. Even with a Corolla, if it isn't maintained properly, it would fall apart a while before 200k miles (like our 97 Corolla which blew a head gasket because it wasn't maintained by previous owners). However, if it is cared for it should last a long time. Good luck!

Good cars but have a mechanic check it out considering the mileage. That seems like a good price since I see them typically go for $9,000-$11,000 out here and even more if the mileage is low

Seems like a good deal as long as a mechanic clears it.
