Hi Scotty i have a Toyota FJ cruiser 185000 kilometers Auto my four wheel drive light is on all the time even when i am not in four wheel drive i did a scan but nothing came up , when i do put it in four wheel it does engage and drive the front wheels if you cane give me some hints on what to look for that would be great. love you shows keep up the the good work your doing thanks Peter Conlin
There's probably a switch in the transfer case for the indicator that is not working. Not worth worrying about.

I have the opposite problem on an old Jeep, the 4WD light on the dash never comes on even though the bulb is good. It's not worth the bother of crawling underneath to fix it since a quick glance at the transfer case lever tells me what mode it's in.
What are you plans with the truck? If you plan on keeping it and driving it and the 4 wheel drive works I wouldn't worry about it. It's going to cost a HEAP of money to have someone take the dash out to diagnose one light. Are you willing to part with hundreds of dollars to fix it? if not/My advice just live with it you've got a great truck just keep up with the maintenance and it'll last ya forever.

Np I know it's easy for peeps to freak out when very minor things go wrong because cars are expensive and complex and just like Scotty I really enjoy helping out where I can.
If the 4x4 system actually works, goes in and out, when engaged is what matters. The light staying on is minor annoyance. It would be a lot of hassle to troubleshoot the switch and/or wiring that's keeping the light on. I
