My neighbor's remote unlocks my van, 2016 Nissan NV3500, 65,000 miles, automatic. Don't say it is impossible, he did it right in front of my, and he is no magician. I want to disable this function altogether, I always use my key to unlock my van. The dealer, and the car manufacturer, are no help at all. Thank you.
Well, what is happening is the remote frequencies are getting crossed. It happens from time to time although it is pretty rare.
It's not a feature you can turn off. The vehicle is programmed to receive signals on a certain radio frequency. I doubt the dealer will go in and change that programming...they may not even be able to.
To have a peace of mind, get yourself a steering wheel lock.
can you open his?
I saw a video somewhere that demonstrated how people can use a device to capture and duplicate the radio frequency from your remote. It makes me quite paranoid to use it, unless it is to unlock the car upon leaving somewhere.
Have you consulted a good locksmith? I have no idea if they can help you, but they are knowledgeable about chip keys and remote control locks.
Even if they can unlock your car, the key and immobilizer chip won't be the same so they can't run away with your car
But they can steal his snacks
