Hello and good morning from Panama City Florida. My name is Adam and I seek your expert knowledge with my vehicle as I am always tuned into your informative channel. My only ride is a 2002 GMC Sonoma SL, single cab, rear wheel two wheel drive truck with 130k miles. My OBDII codes are as followed, P0113, P0178, and P1137. The symptoms leading to the vehicle needing towed home are as followed. Check engine light came on and went off a few times, the battery light engaged but the voltage stayed nominal, no loss of electricity from the gage, check gage light engaged, engine sputtered and spat then stalled. Upon restarting, a horrible metal grinding noise came when I turned the key over, then after the noise, the engine turns over, you can hear the starter whirling, however the belt doesn’t turn, it just keeps making a noise I can only describe as the starting working but the engine not cranking. Also, there was a bad smell of fuel. Please, if you have time may I have your advice as this is my family’s only means of transportation. I am mechanically inclined to follow the advice and teachings of your videos but coming up with my own solutions I am at a loss. I cannot afford to guess what is what, and change parts at random.
Your fan, Adam

If you can make a video of it post it on YouTube and put the URL here and I will watch but if you're only getting horrible grinding noises pray the starter has gone bad and that the engine hasn't lockedbut if you're only getting horrible grinding noises pray the starter has gone bad and that the engine hasn't locked up since the belt does move. Or the flywheel maybe broken and then they starter hits the broken flywheel and makes horrible flanking noises
