I recently changed my tires to winter tires which I have done before. I notice that my consumption in L/100km has doubled. It does not normally do this and this is not the first time I have put these tires on the car. I also recently did some towing of a trailer and of course there was increased consumption.
I am baffled to what it is.
Any advise would be helpful.
Of note I am not sure that the actual consumption is higher just the reading.
Best,
Darryl
Don’t go by what the car is saying. Calculate MPGs when you’re at the pump by hand.
also change in winter/summer blend of fuels at the gas station could be a cause too.
Thank you so much for your answer. This is not the first time I have changed the tires but the first time that the readings are so far off. Is there any other cause that you could think of.
I thought maybe the airflow so I checked the air filter etc and all were perfect.
I will change the oil today.
Any other ideas to check would be appreciated

If I were you, I would buy the BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro that Scotty recommends up in the Tools part of this web site. That would help you diagnose this problem (which might be the engine running rich) , and any future problems.
Did you calculate your average mpg based on couple fuel ups?
