There are companies that do home inspections across the country. Anyone game to help start a network of truth worthy mechanics to do Vehicle Pre purchase inspections?
The problem is it would be so hard to keep it honest I was actually thinking about doing that but then I realized there's no way I would know what kind of work people did in various areas it would be almost impossible to keep it an honest website. That's a problem with all those places that supposedly give you great people to fix your house or do whatever it's too much room for dishonesty where people pay to say how great they are I know mechanic in Houston that did that he was one of the worst in town most crooked but he got great ratings because he paid people to write fake stories about how great he was
See your point, it would be very difficult indeed to keep greed and dishonesty out of it, didn’t think about that part of it.
All kinds of businesses are doing this, and there are "internet reputation" companies that specialize at posting phony positive reviews. It's gotten so bad that not long ago a new restaurant was going to open in my area and online there were glowing reviews of their service, atmosphere, and food BEFORE they even opened the doors.
In this forum, there is a topic related to the reputable mechanics in each area. I think this is the closest thing existed so far. I agree with your idea but the issue is that in some cases, the shops change their attitude and do not offer honest opinion that they used to do.
