Hi,

Toyota Corolla 2016. 50,000km

I have a clunk noise when pressing or releasing the gas pedal or the breake pedal. Sometimes it happens and sometimes not.

Here is a video describing the problem:

Does anyone know what is the problem?

Thanks in advance

Hard to say. Some models they are both mounted on same bracket, could be a loose bolt on the bracket. Or something in the hinge pin the ride on if its an older vehicle. Can you provide make/model and year along with mileage please?

Also what’s that cable on the floor behind the brake and gas pedals?

The video quality isn't good, the edge of the carpet looks like a cable..

sounds like an electronic relay. Does it click like that when the car is shut off?

Is it ok to press the gas pedal when the car is shut off?

It's totally fine to press the accelerator with the car shut off.

Fun fact: in gasoline cars , there is no pedal which controls the flow of gas. You control the flow of air with a throttle , and the engine decides how much gas to add.

Good to know.
I will check if the gas pedal ticks when the car is off

It doesnt happen when the car is shut off..

Ok the pedal position sensor is doing something. Try unplugging it

Thanks!

If you can get your head down there, press it by hand. See if the brackets moving or if theres movement on the hinge pin where they are mounted.
