Scotty, I have a 2016 Camaro 2SS with the 6 speed manual and 120k miles. Recently I started to sometimes notice what sounds like a metal on metal clunk coming from the rear of the car. I looked under and everything is tight except I have some backlash between the driveshaft and the differential when transmission is in neutral. Is this normal? See YouTube video I posted:

thank you.
Well I would say take the drive shaft off then see if you have playing the universal joints on the drive shaft or when you grab the differential yoke after you take the drive shaft off. The plate is inside the differential. From my experience those differentials wear out and those you probably got internal wear and the diff
@scottykilmer Assuming it is in fact the differential that is worn, is it safe to drive it like this? Do you know if anyone rebuilds these? Or am I just better off replacing the whole unit? It's a clutch type LSD. Last time I changed the fluid on this was for only a 3k mile interval and the fluid that came out was very grey and sparkly, but did not have any metal chunks in it. Could frequent fluid drain and fill help make this differential last or am I wasting my time?
