How do I fix my smoky Cruze

I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze 2LT 1.4T.

Car is smoking (burning oil smoke) when the rpm is between 1800-2000 and once rpm is higher or lower than those numbers there is no smoke and this will happen in any gear that the car is in if the rpm is in the range of numbers posted above (Auto Trans).

Car will also smoke when driving in reverse until I put it in Drive and get the rpm past 2000 then it stops. Does not smoke while idling or revving it up, Only happens while in gear. My thought is it could be worn or cracked piston rings but not 100% positive.

Any help figuring it out would be greatly appreciated.

You need to rebuild the engine in order to fix it. You did not mention the mole age but the Cruze is not a good car to begin with. Get rid of that or drive the car until the wheels fall of.

About 56k on the engine and I got the engine used from a salvage yard with 19k on it supposedly.

You could do a cylinder compression test to find out if the engine is worn out (nothing you can do). If it turns out ok, then changing the valve seals might fix it.

Keep in mind the Cruze was not a good car. Personally I would get rid of it.

2011-2013 was the bad problem years for the Cruze and 2014+ Gen1 engines had all the bugs worked out besides the ongoing PCV issue. I will do a dry compression tomorrow to see where each cylinder is at and if one of them is lower then the rest I will rebuild the engine with forged pistons as the rods are already forged and I will be upgrading the valve springs so I will replace the valve stem seals as well.

you will probably never get that money back, but have at 'er
