Hey guys, hope whoever is reading this is doing well. I know scotty made a video about this specific car which is the 1st gen Honda Pilots explaining how good of an full sized SUV it is but I had a couple of concerns. I found one person selling one for around $5,800 at 154k Miles. The seller had it since 2006, had done a lot of things to it like basic maintenance, spark plugs, serpentine belts, the list goes on and on. It was pretty well taken care of. I went to see it last week and wow, it rode amazingly and felt soo nice on the road. The reason I did not purchase it was because it would jolt when I press the gas from a stop or if I'm rolling assuming it was engine mounts. The guy texted me saying that he had just gotten the motor mounts done and asked if I was still interested. I managed to get him down to $4,800 for it which I think is a steal but I have one concern. I have two cars that currently run on timing chains rather than belts. This car runs on belts yet I do not know if the seller had changed them or not. I came on here to see if I should pull the trigger on it either way because I know at some point you have to change timing belts when they get bad. I have yet to ask him if he had previously changed it or not but I'm mainly assuming he might or might have not done that. I just wanted to see if I should go for it either way because many people say its a good vehicle when its maintained properly. I know the job could range from $500-$1000 but since many say its a good car I'm thinking of buying it because its in really good condition and one owner. I'm a little skeptical about it and would like to get some opinions on what I should do. I hope someone could help me. Thanks!
Well they are good cars but regardless of that have a mechanic like me. Check it out first. And if you do buy it, change the timing belt and water pump immediately. You don't want to chance that
