Hello I’m thinking of buying either a 2010 Honda Accord 2.4L 4 cylinder with 54k miles. Or a 2011 Toyota Camry 2.5L 4 cylinder with 72k miles. Any insight on which is a better car and will last the longest would be great. Thanks!
You can't go wrong with either car, A lot depends on how the previous owner/s took care of the car and how you take care of it.
Have it checked out before you buy. Verify that the mileage is correct. Surprises after purchasing are a bitch.
I assume that the accord is automatic. Camry is a better choice. The only issue is the oil burning which you should check and decide based in that.
Starting point is the 3 C's: Condition, condition, condition. Take nothing for granted, don't trust the seller to be forthcoming, or truthful.
Get the opinion of a professional, objective mechanic that can provide documents vehicle conditions (Our parent new-vehicle dealership provides such mechanical, electrical, and electronic inspections on a first-come, first-served basis for a fee of $55.00 USD.) Canvas your area for dealers/shops that provides at least similar services at reasonable fees.
Compare the documentation, objectively consider purchase price plus cost to repair.
You may want to objective online reviews for the subject vehicles. Get specifications, and perhaps most importantly, some measure of the overall rating of the vehicles.
Then you may also consider your own preferences, such as make, model, equipment, options, color, and any desirable after-market changes.
By then, if not before, the best choice should be apparent.
But whatever you do, don't take the "buy this one" or "no, buy this one" advice of anonymous strangers on some forum. For the most part, you'll get personal opinions and not real-world, objective recommendations.
And don't buy any vehicle based solely upon having neat tire and wheels, or chrome gas pedals, or stereo systems that cause hearing loss.
(I'm a vehicle sales person, and you have no idea on how many potential customers come in looking for a car that has 22" wheels ! And they could care less about anything else !)
