SUV purchase recommendation

My mother recently totaled her ford explorer and is looking for a replacement.

She wants a new SUV under 30k.

We were looking at the Ford Bronco (with the 2.3L ecoboost and manual trans), and the rav4 LE. The Honda HR-V (2WD) and the Honda CR-V hybrid were on the table as well, but I'm not too sure about the reliability of those powertrains.

She was leaning towards the bronco (mostly for the fun factor), but was alright with the other options as well. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Clarification: How many years and miles does she need the vehicle to last her?

The RAV4 is the best pick out of all those by a long shot. The manual transmission in the Bronco is a big plus, but if you’ve watched most of Scotty’s videos, he’s talked a lot about the reliability issues the ecoboost engines have had, so if she seriously wants the Bronco, just understand that it probably won’t last as long as pretty much all the other vehicles you listed and have the most problems. If she wants a long term vehicle then definitely get the RAV4 or HR-V. I’d stay away from the hybrid CR-V myself.

The RAV4 is the best option there. The new Bronco is still going through teething pains, and they don't have very good transmissions. The EcoBoost isn't a great powerplant either.

Go with the RAV4, but also consider Mazda CX-30 or Mazda CX-5.
