Need a new starter for my 2006 Corolla with 89,000 miles. Are remanufactured ones ok?

For me personally I don’t want to have to worry about it again (esp. since most of my travels are far from home), so I go OEM and brand new.

Since I do my own work I generally make that decision based on difficulty of replacement. I'll go for a rebuilt starter with lifetime warranty if it's a pretty easy job. If it's a real pain I'll go with a new OEM starter.

If it's significantly cheaper than a new one, then yeah it's fine. Just make sure it's a good name brand with a good guarantee.
