New vehicle LOW mileage oil change??

Hi Scotty.

I bought a 2024 SUV in July of last year. I don't drive much and it's at 800 miles right now, the majority on 25-40 mile shopping/chore/appointment loops about town (Phoenix), rarely any short runs. A mix of no rush hour inner city street and highway driving. I pay attention to turbo warm up and cool down discipline.

Should I now do a traditional "break-in" oil & filter change, a bit overdue?

Or can I wait until July and do the yearly change given I'll have about 1100-1200 miles on the odo by then?

Thanks!

Please search the board, this has been discussed quite a few times. The short answer is that you're fine waiting for one year in that situation, in fact you'll only be a little over the 1000 mile mark which is what most people would consider the mileage for a "break-in" oil change.
