Hello
Last year my AC compressor gave up and i went to a garage and some mechanic told me the he can “save” it but thats gonna cost me like $500 and i also asked how much would be a new one , and he said arround $1000 with labour included.
should i tell him to fix the old ac compressor or should i go with a brand new one?

Better to get a new one. Is that price for OEM or aftermarket?

I would get a new one. I've never had luck with used A/C components.

For $1000 is pretty pricey
