My opinion: Australians are lucky they are not being forced to buy EVs as we in EU are going to be
Australians want to buy electric cars, but car makers say government policy blocks supply
I also wonder who are those who 'want' to buy EVs.
"Among the other World Car winners, there was British success with Land Rover’s new Defender named World Car Design of the Year for 2021. Accepting the award, JLR Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern, said, ““New Defender is influenced by its past but is not constrained by it and we are delighted it has been honoured with this award."
what a stupid name
I made a huge mistake in 2012 by reading and listening to all the hype about the best mini-van of the year; I bought it and it gave me so much grief and the dealership where I bought it was lousy. I mention it here because of the Land Rover hype. Nothing could be as bad as a Chrysler Town and Country. I'm driving a Japanese 4 banger now hope it lasts another 300K miles.
Sweet.

To anyone who owns a Nissan Rogue or somehow doesn't know about Nissan CVT issues:
A link to technical service bulletins can be found in the given link. The case alleges that Nissan new about transmission issues with the Nissan Rogue since 2013, but hid it with constant bulletins to delay complaints.
The new rouge shares most of it’s platform and parts with the new 2021 outlander including the Jatco CVT8.
It is a gearbox that was rated by the manufacturer to last 150,000km (90 miles).
It’s astonishing how people keep making and selling these piles of garbage… it’s not like the rest of the car is well built either…

Volkswagen is really rebranding as ‘Voltswagen’ in the US
“Volkswagen is changing the name of its American brand to Voltswagen, in a not-so-subtle nod to the German automaker’s multibillion-dollar effort to become the biggest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world.”
https://www.theverge.com/2021/3/30/22357166/volkswagen-name-change-voltswagen-us-division
Turns out the name change was an April Fools joke.
Hahahaha can’t believe you fell for it!
I didn't want to say anything but ... {pear}:laughingoutloud:
BMW charges extra for a ‘don’t blind other people’ software update
“When you typically think of luxury car features, do you envision rich leather seating and extravagant trim? Advanced cruise control and intelligent self-parking? Whatever you’re imagining, I’m betting “dim my headlights so I don’t blind other people” isn’t it.
But not only has BMW used its “High Beam Assistant” as an upsell for well over a decade, it’s also charging drivers extra to unlock the safety feature that’s already built into their cars — by buying it as an over-the-air software update”.
What a terrible joke BMW has become - a tax on a stupid.
Even a $16K MSRP Kia Rio has HBA and lane centering with adaptive cruise...
I didn’t know GM made amphibious trucks..
anything is amphibious after enough Canadian whiskey
Hahaha sounds promising
3 months old but shows what EV owners can face
Thieves are stealing Tesla charging cables, some are suspecting lock defect in cold
here in Canada, VW is also buying up parking companies. They really want to monopolize the market, and the government is helping them. Scary.
I'm not sure I like the idea of fixed pricing. I like being able to negotiate my own deal.
However, I think we need to get rid of franchise legislation that protects dealerships, and gives them a monopoly on selling new cars. I want to see "car stores" where you can look at all of the brands together and compare them.
Agreed, like stores who sell computers or smartphones from all the different OEMs. This sort of reminds me of Apple, controlling the price of the product, with zero scope for negotiations.
I assume this is in Australia not the US? I honestly find it dissapointing that I wouldn't be able to negotiate and shop accordingly.
There is no such thing as "fixed pricing" in reality. The market will determine the price of everything.
they expect to lose sales, strange things happening with Honda
This is being spiked all over. During the "recent" Cold spell in Texas: There was no way to recharge EV's. Most recharging stations get their power from "Fossil Fuels", or "Frozen Wind Generators". Even the Texas Nuclear Power Plant was not allowed to power up more than 30%. In the "Green New Deal" Era; there won't be enough Power to run any EV Fleet! Be sure to tell AOC about this! Oh an by the way: to fully charge an EV was over $700.00. 🤣 😛 😜 😝 🙃
15 March 2021 - Politicians Mad USPS Won't Have More EVs in Its New Postal Truck Fleet
Above, (ugly) electric mail truck (thingy).
Politicians can't get it through their skulls. These things are expensive. Who's gonna pay for it.
"Scotty" is never wrong!
same thing happened exactly two years ago. Tesla went under a trailer, ripping the roof off and killing the driver.
Meh. The lesson for me here, is always watch where you're going. The world is full of hazards. Don't wait for someone to bubble wrap them for you.
Good lesson, and too bad most Americans have no idea how to use a highway. Man driving in this country will be a pain... :

FWIW, those "side guards" were installed to better the wind resistance of the vehicle. You are right though, it would be smart to actually make those "side guards" as well.
I wish people would actually drive rather than depend on not only this bs tech but constantly distract themselves with all the bells & whistles or their phone.
When I'm driving the phone is off & my eyes are on the road. The only time my hand leaves the wheel is to turn on the wipers, etc or shift.
24 years on the road with a spotless record.
2021-03-17: Tesla operating in Autopilot hits police car in Michigan

The 22-year-old Lansing man in the Tesla was cited for failure to move over and driving while license suspended.
something tells me that, hmm maybe I should pay attention to what's happening around me when my soft, squishy, sack of guts is hurtling down the road at 40mph or more.
Yea, there is no software written by man that’s 100%. The tractor trailer ones they proved the system go confused thought they were road signs and could drive underneath. I’d love to hear the explanation for the cop car mishap. If your that tired pull over and sleep and don’t let the car drive.
Maybe the Tesla was part of Antifa
