NHTSA AEB Mandate

Scotty,

NHTSA just passed a regulation that all new cars starting in 2029 must have AEB technology. The mandate expects performance and sensitivity that the OEMs are saying they can’t safely meet. At the same time NHTSA is investigating Honda for false AEB braking because their system is too sensitive! I was hoping you could use your platform to shine some light on this topic and these systems generally. Maybe you could do a video on the basics of AEB, especially overrides should you get a false braking event. Drivers are uninformed about how these systems work. AEB is coming, like it or not. Teaching the people about these systems would be a great public service.

Sounds like yet another reason to hang onto my old clunkers. I've never owned a car built in the 21st century and with a little luck never will.
