I have a 2001 nissan frontier two wheel drive with manual transmission. I recently installed a new clutch kit in it and when the motor is cold it shifts perfectly, but as soon as the motor/transmission warms up I have a problem shifting from first to second gear. If I shift slowly meaning give time for the rpms to drop it shifts into second gear without any problem, if I try to shift quickly it doesn't want to go into second. It shifts into all other gears without any problems 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 and reverse weather the motor/transmission is cold, warm or hot. What could be causing this? Thanks
I'd say check the bushings on the shifter. You take the shifter out of the transmission. You might find the plastic bushings are worn. If not that it would be synchro mesh going out in that gear which would require building the transmission over
@scottykilmer okay thank you for the suggestion. Can the just the synchro for second gear be replaced or is that something that is best to do them all while you've got it torn down? What kind of $$ to repair.?

Scotty does not usually revisit topics he has already answered. If you have a bad synchro (and it's not clear that you do), while in there it's best to overhaul the transmission while it's apart. It is 24 years old after all.

No idea, you'd have to get quotes from mechanics in your area. As Scotty says check your shifter bushings and alignment before tearing into the transmission.
@chucktobias thank you.
