How do I fix excessive oil consumption

Topic starter

Scotty,  I own a 1992 Nissa Maxima GXE.

It has 260k miles, I noticed recently that is consuming oil excessively. What can I do? Or what do you suggest? Few years a go I did work on cleaning the valves   and intake and changing what it was suggested  when you open the valve compartment. ( an overhaul of the valves)

Now is burning oil.

Help please

Thank you

Marchelo

The only simple thing would be to replace the PCV valve. If that doesn't help that means the engine is worn out; rings, cylinder bores, and/or valve guides and seals. That would not be unexpected given the age and mileage.

Keep a container of oil in the trunk
