My friends impala died on him while he was driving and wouldn't start back up. After he got it towed home , went and checked it out. Battery is good, all his features work but the starter won't engage. Didn't have a lot of time to look at it but im thinking a blown fuse or a bad ground preventing power. Any thoughts?
Is thee any code on the dash?
Just change oil soon
If the car died while driving, the fuel pump went out.
If the starter won't engage and you don't have much time to invest in looking into it,
I'd at least put a digital multimeter (at the starter) on the large wire coming from the battery to the solenoid and the small wire (at the starter) going from the ignition to the solenoid.
Large wire should have at least 12 volts always, small wire should have 12 volts when the key is turned to the start position.
If both of the voltages check out, then it's most likely the solenoid or starter.
if they don't, then check the connections (on the larger wire) at the battery
and for a blown fuse/bad relay, shorted-out wire, in the (smaller) ignition wire circuit.

When you open the switch to start the car, does the engine turn over or you just hear a click sound?
