O-ring on dipstick broke

Topic starter

Hey Scotty! I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 limited with a 3.5 V6 and an 4 speed automatic transmission. I have 221,xxx miles and I am the third owner! I get my oil changed every 3000 miles and the last time I brought my car to my local Walmart to have the oil changed one of their workers broke off my O-ring on my dipstick I use to check the oil. I was not aware, and I went to get my oil changed as per recommended by the sticker they leave on your windshield and they told me they couldn’t  change my oil due to my dip stick being broke, and they broke it! I didn’t wanna argue with the guy so I left and noticed just how bad it was broken and it’s about a half inch deep in the tube. Still looks like a fair amount of plastic is still there, how would you recommend I get it out? I don’t wanna pay a shop hundreds of dollars to disconnect the tube from the engine and ect ect. Have you ran into this issue before? What did you do to remedy this? Any input is greatly appreciated!

the dipstick tube is $25 on rockauto. Looks like one bolt to install. Just do it yourself.

I would add don't take your car to places like WalMart (or any other chain store) for service! Find a good independent mechanic.
