Oil Change Frequently 2019 JCW Mini Convertible

Hi Scotty,

How often would you recommend the oil change intervals on my 2019 JCW Mini Convertible. I don’t put many Kilometres on in a year, currently only has 14,285km. It primarily is driven in the city to and from work but I do take it out on the highway for a to get a good run periodically . I don’t drive it hard but have seen your videos suggesting more frequent oil changes with a turbo charged engine. Given the low kilometres per year and the fact that I don’t  drive it hard would yearly oil changes be considered safe, or should I be servicing it more often? I serviced my old 2012 Mini every 3 months but I am currently having my Mini serviced for free under the Mini Service contract which is yearly or every 15,000 km… Thanks

Change every 4K km. Clean oil keeps a motor happy. Do not buy into these 11,000 km or higher oil change intervals. I’ve seen plenty of vehicles that even use these full synthetic oils and after 4K km the oil is black. Now if all you did was drive at highway speeds all day everyday different story. But that’s not what the majority of people do. City/stop and go is very hard on these oils, even the high priced synthetics. And how complex these modern motors are they need that oil clean.

When you get your oil and filter changed, at whatever interval, change out your PCV valve as well.  For a few extra dollars, your engine will love it and you.
