Oil change intervals

Hi Scotty! I’ve got a 2021 Toyota Tundra Venture with 30,900 miles. I’m original owner. When I bought it i got an extended service warranty. The dealership told me they don’t recommend oil changes until every 10,000 miles. I let them do this twice. Since 20,000 mile mark I decided to pay out of pocket for the oil change for every 5,000 miles. Did I damage the 4 Runner by going by what the dealership recommended at every 10,000 miles?

Yes, you probably diminished the lifespan of your engine by a little, but nothing to start panicking.

Great! I took it in for maintenance at just under 5,000 miles because I assumed they were changing the oil, only to find out after I’d been there several hours because Auto Butler too, they told me they didn’t change the oil. I was shocked never heard of going 10,000 miles. Should have listened to my dad.

Dad's usually right 😆 Sometimes you don't realise until later.

We have a brand new 2023 Camry that we bought last year and its currently at 10k miles. We have changed the Oil every 5k miles even though the dealer recommends us to change it every 10k miles. Oil is cheap and engines are expensive. When the warranty runs out for the engine who is going to fix it? Definitely not the dealer, we have to pay for it. So no thanks. Lol.
